Where to stay

Washington offers a variety of options for accommodation, from luxury hotels to budget-friendly hostels. If you want to be in the heart of the action, look for a hotel in the downtown area, close to the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums. Washington is known for its diverse culinary scene, with a wide variety of cuisines and dining options. For a taste of the local cuisine, head to the Eastern Market, a historic indoor market that offers fresh produce, artisanal cheeses, and prepared foods. Another must-visit spot is Ben’s Chili Bowl, a DC institution that has been serving up hot dogs and chili since 1958.

If you’re looking for something a little more upscale, there are plenty of fine dining options in the city, including José Andrés’ minibar, which offers a 25-course tasting menu, and the Michelin-starred restaurant, The Inn at Little Washington, which is located about an hour outside of the city.

Where to play

Washington offers plenty of opportunities for entertainment and outdoor activities. Take a stroll through the National Mall, where you can see some of the city’s most famous monuments and museums, including the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian museums.

For a more active adventure, rent a bike and explore the city’s many bike trails, including the Capital Crescent Trail, which runs from Georgetown to Bethesda. Alternatively, you could take a boat tour along the Potomac River, which offers stunning views of the city’s skyline and monuments.

No visit to the city is complete without a tour of the White House, the official residence of the President of the United States. In addition to the government buildings, Washington is home to some of the world’s most famous museums, including the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
